Conference
2001
The 2001 CADA Conference was held in Long Beach, California, hosted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with the Long Beach Fire Department.  Our hostess, Silvia Faris with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, did a wonderful job and CADA's thanks and appreciation go to her and those with both hosting agencies for a job very well done.
Benefactors of the conference, each sponsoring luncheons for the participants, were PETCO Foundation and Engineering and Fire Investigations.  CADA thanks them for their support and their part in making this conference interesting and enjoyable to all.
The agenda of the meeting, combined with very nice facilities and beautiful cool weather, made the three days of the conference a very enjoyable time.
This was the first time the annual conference was held on the west coast, and those attending met some of our California members in person for the first time, and of course, renewed friendships with those members whom we have met at earlier  conferences.
The host hotel, Seaport Marina, was beautiful with flowers everywhere.  We met here on the first day of the

The second day was the proficiency testing, with thirteen teams participating.  Facilities were the Huntington Beach @ JSTraining Institute, with testing site courtesy of Nina Johnson and JSTraining.  This testing went smoothly, conducted by Billy Schweizer, who did a fine job, as always.

The third day was practical work for the teams, as we went through exercises designed to evaluate them in simulated working conditions.
After this exercise, we returned to the host hotel to meet and discuss CADA's upcoming year.  Possible conference sites for 2002 were discussed; a location will be selected and announced this fall.
Those attending this 2001 Conference had an enjoyable time, and we're looking forward to meeting again in 2002.
