Questions

What is CADA?

CADA is the oldest North American association dedicated solely to detection canines working in the field of fire investigations. Established in 1991, it offers networking, certification, and continuing education opportunities for ignitable liquid detection canine teams throughout North America.

Who can join CADA?

Any handler, investigator, or agency working with ignitable liquid detection canines can join. CADA is an open organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professional detection canine handlers in the field of fire investigations.

How much does CADA membership cost?

Membership is $65 USD per canine team for the calendar year. A handler running more than one canine pays $65 for each handler-and-canine pair.

When are CADA membership dues due?

Membership is due January 1st every year. Membership runs on the calendar year rather than from the date you join.

How do I renew my CADA membership?

Existing members renew with the Renew Membership form on this page. Renewal is the same $65 USD per canine team for the calendar year, and you can add or remove canine pairs as your teams change.

Can my agency pay by invoice or purchase order?

Yes. If your organization requires a dedicated approval process such as purchase orders, invoicing, or vendor onboarding, email the CADA secretary at cadak9.secretary@gmail.com before filling out the membership form.

Where can I find CADA's certification standards?

CADA publishes its bylaws, its standards for ignitable liquid detection canine teams, and its certification testing standards as PDF documents on the standards page. All three were reviewed and updated in September 2025.
